We’re back with another edition of Favorite Things from the Brush Dance staff.
Today, we’re featuring Jimmy Thames, our Sales Director. In addition to road trips galore, Jimmy also offers his valuable thoughts on a multitude of topics around here. One thing he wouldn’t do, though? Choose a favorite Calendar or Planner from our 2018 line up, saying that he loves them all!
Jimmy uses Field Notes for his on-the-go notes. “I like Field Notes because they are sturdy, thin, and pocket-sized. They also make me feel vaguely engineerish – I’m thinking architectural! The new Campfire Series have color covers and shows your inner rugged outdoorsperson!”
One of our big promises to you is that we will only carry products that we ourselves use, and it’s true! From funky fab fun BlueQ Socks to hilarious Emily McDowell Mugs, everyone who works here uses and loves everything we sell at Brush Dance.
Every now and then, though, there is a product line that comes along that we are all crazy-coco for. One of those lines is Leuchtturm1917 Journals and Notebooks.
Why do we love these Notebooks and Journals? Let us count the reasons (in no particular order) . . .
Paper Quality – thick, beautiful paper with just the right amount of toothiness (this means that that paper isn’t super-slick and smooth – and this means that it’s suitable for a wide variety of writing instruments from ballpoint pens and gel pens to fineliners and fountain pens).
Options – holy smokes, the options have options!
Colors – brights (like red and orange), muted (nordic blue and emerald), and traditional black.
Sizes and Cover Choices – The handy A4 with a hardcover is my favorite. Others here prefer the bendy B5 with a softcover.
Lined? Dot Grid? We got them both.
Numbered Pages and Index – both of these things make it easy to find important notes later – love, love, love.
Special Editions – Leuchtturm regularly develops super-popular special editions, including the Some Lines A Day five-year Journal shown below.
For a very limited time, all Leuchtturm Journals and Notebooks are on sale. This is the perfect opportunity for you to give them a try. Or, if you’re like me, this is a great time to stock up on your favorite styles.
Today, our Creative Manager, Susan, shares some of her favorite items with us. In case you missed them, here are links to the other posts in this series: ShawnaKarma
Susan has such an important job at Brush Dance. She is responsible for our products from conception, through printing and production. It’s one of those positions where a person needs to be both creative/artistic and well-organized. A rare combination, and she fits the bill perfectly!
Our 2018 Dreamer’s Realm Wall Calendar is one of Susan’s top picks. She said, “Catrin Welz-Stein’s art is so magical and beautifully painted that it is a treat to look at each image for a month. I will never grow tired of her work.”
All of us love this Planner (and the coordinating Journal!). Susan says she gets lots of approving nods while carrying this Planner – and she wishes she could use it for four years instead of one!
Well. Sometimes, you just have to say it how it is, right? Susan thinks this pair of Blue Q Socks would make a great gift for all of our feminist friends. She loves the bold and colorful Girl Power statement. These socks are not just pretty – they are comfy and hold up great.
The adorable Coin Purse above would make a great gift. Susan envisions filling it with pennies and presenting it as a fun-filled (?) birthday gift! Ha!
The larger tote is, “distinctive and colorful. You can use it for your airport gear (the zipper keeps things secure!), beach stuff, kid stuff, or for anything that won’t fit in your purse. And since it’s about 15 inches wide, it’s not too big or cumbersome.”
Susan’s final favorite pick is Table Topics. She had this to say:
My family has lots of talkers. And, we all love games. Table Topics is a catalyst for interesting and lively conversations about things we’ve never talked about as a group. When was the last time you discussed:
Have you ever been escorted out by security?
Who’s had too much plastic surgery?
Would you rather spend a week in jail or serve two weeks community service?
You’ll learn a thing (or two!) about your friends and family, and have some fun in the process. If you exhaust these 135 questions, there are plenty more versions of the game you can pick up.
And there we have it! Susan’s Favorite Things! I love that she has eclectic taste and a great sense of humor!
I also wanted to let you know that we’re planning some exclusive sales for people who are on our mailing list. You can sign up on our website!
We’re back this week with more of our favorite things. Here’s a link to Shawna’s Favorite Things in case you missed it.
Karma (yes, her real name) is our highly-esteemed and ultra-organized administrative assistant at Brush Dance. In addition to answering the phone when you call with questions, Karma works with every department to help keep things on track. She runs reports, creates spreadsheets, dives into Facebook and Instagram, proofs all of our calendars, and much much more.
When she’s not working, Karma enjoys hiking with her boyfriend in the hills near her home, spending time with family, visiting museums, and cuddling with her cats. She says the Octopus Shopper Bag from BlueQ reminds her of trips to the aquarium.
Known to doodle, Zentangle, and bullet journal, writing instruments are important to Karma. In her own words…
And after all of that work, hiking, and museum-ing, some self-care is in order. A long bath with our effervescent bath seltzer is just the thing. Karma is also reasonably certain that every cat lover needs a pair of these ultra-soft Cat Monster Socks.
Thank you for sharing your favorite things with us, Karma!
I also wanted to let you know that we’ve placed some new items in our Clearance section. Once these items are gone, we will not restock them. There are some terrific deals there and I hope you’ll check them out!
Now that the new year is well on its way, our focus at Brush Dance turns from calendars and planners to all of the other wonderful items we sell.
I thought I’d share a few of my favorite bags with you today.
Bags. I’m into all of our new, fun bags. The one shown above is a limited edition collaboration between us and our pals over at Chico Bags. I love this quote, the bright bright orange – our art combined with fabulous Chico Bags and you really can’t go wrong.
We’re all about fonts and typography at Brush Dance. This handy zipper pouch makes me happy. It’s the perfect size to hold some pens and a small notepad. Zip it up, toss in my tote, and I’m ready to go.
And check this out . . .
Here are a couple of other smaller pouches that I adore . . .
We truly have a bag for everyone – big, small, plain, funny, small, girly, cute, serious. I hope you’ll love them, too!
